Sun Island Snow Sculpture Art Expo

Harbin is the cradle of ice and snow art and an important part of Harbin’s Ice and Snow Festival. The Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo is the birthplace of snow sculpture in China. It is also a big national event in terms of history, scale and artistic level.
The expo was initiated in 1988 and known as the garden party at that time. It grew into an international festival after years of development. It set its official name, the Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo, in 1999. Also that year, it organized a series of competitions on snow sculpture among local, national and international artists.
Since 2005, it has been cooperating with many countries to hold the expo, including Japan, Canada, France, Finland, Italy and Russia.
The autumn schedule for power grid maintenance in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province concluded on Oct 30.
