Speed skaters shine at the Harbin competitions

Competitions at the second station of 2018 China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League concluded in Harbin, capital city of Heilongjiang province, Nov 18, following four days of fierce competitions.
Players competed for medals in the men’s 5,000 meters relay race, women’s 3,000 meter relay race, the men’s and women’s 2,000 meters relay race, women’s 1,000 meters race and men’s 1,000 meters race.
An Kai from Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau won the first place in the men’s 1000 competition with a time of 1 min 32 sec 039, followed by Li Wenlong with a time of 1 min 32 sec 127 and Yu Songnan with a time of 1 min 32 sec 662.
Zhang Chutong from Jilin Institute of Physical Education won the first place in the women’s 1000 competition with a time of 1 min 34 sec 961, followed by Guo Yihan from the ice sports administration center of Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau and Qu Chunyu from Heilongjiang Skating Training Center.
In the men’s and women’s 2,000 meters relay race, Bayi skating team won the gold medal for their excellent performance.
A joint team made up of Dayi, Qingdao and Hebei players won the first place in the women’s 3,000 meters relay race with a time of 4 min 15 sec 953; and the Jilin team won first prize in the men’s 5,000 meters relay race with a time of 7 min 29 sec 873.
According to the rules of the league, the top 46 players at each of the competition categories would be eligible for the 2019 elite finals, which will be held in Beijing in 2019.
China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League is specially created by the Chinese Skating Association with the purpose of preparing for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Currently, it is the largest and the most influential short track speed skating league in China.
