Harbin to speed up upgrading of coal-fired boilers

To continue improving its air quality, Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, will implement stricter measures to upgrade or remove coal-fired boilers.
According to information from the government of Harbin, coal-fired boilers with a heating capacity of 35 T/h or less will be dismantled in the next year; and boilers with a heating capacity of 60 T/h or more will be upgraded to be more energy efficient and lower emissions.
Statistics reveal that in 2018, a total of 1,191 coal-fired boilers were shut down in the capital; and over 10,000 coal-fired boilers were upgraded to burn biomass.
