The 2019 China (Yabuli) Paragliding Competition was held in Yabuli, Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, from July 28 to 30.

The three-day event attracted 48 professional paragliders from China, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.

“I have been to many paragliding bases in China, but none can compare to Yabuli due to its wide-open nature, great topography, and favorable wind direction,” said a paraglider from Central China’s Hubei province.

This was the fourth paragliding event to be held in Yabuli, a town in Harbin famous for its beautiful snowy scenery and winter sports.

Yabuli has become one of the few paragliding training centers in China due to its great low-altitude flying conditions and abundant experience in hosting competitions.

Paragliding is popular around the world and has hundreds of thousands of fans. In recent years, it has also become a trend in China as living standards have risen and consumption models have improved, said Xu Qi, chairman of the Harbin Aviation Association.
