Harbin Churin Food Co (Churin), a 119-year-old Russian food producer, opened its first western restaurant, the Bistro Western Restaurant, in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, on Sept 24.

The restaurant is located in the backyard of a century-old commercial building on Ashihe Old Street. The building has managed to preserve its original Russian exterior and interior design style.

The restaurant hired Mars, who used to work at high-class western restaurants in Shanghai, to be its chef.

The restaurant’s dishes will integrate flavors from cuisines from around the world. Its highlights include dishes from the French countryside, such as Angus beefsteak with black pepper sauce, slow stewed avocado with saffron risotto, pan-fried salmon with Peruvian buckwheat, and Middle Eastern millet salad; food produced by Churin, including lieba bread and red sausages; and more than 30 fresh seafood dishes.

The restaurant also features authentic Italian and Russian food, as well as traditional food from the Harbin countryside.

The restaurant also provides more than 30 types of beer and wine from around the world.
