Harbin has the largest agriculture and rural area among China’s capital cities. The city has plenty ofcultivated land, accounting for 16 percent of Heilongjiang’s total. Under the jurisdiction of Harbin, the districts and counties (including county-level cities) have superior natural conditions, rivers, fertile land and fresh air, creating advantages in natural green food production.

In recent years, Harbin's green food standards have risen significantly. The green, pollution-free and organic food production base-identified areas (including a mountain products area and aquatic area) have exceeded 2.17 million hectares. Wuchang Rice, Harbin Beer, Harbin Roulian Sausages, Harbin Hi-Tech Soybeans, Shuangcheng Millet, Longdsan Milk, Green Mountains Frozen Food, Yanshou Lvchen Food, Zhenzhushan Food and a series of green, organic foods have become reputable brands across China.

Harbin has plenty of Hericium, fungi, mushrooms, Osmunda cinnamomea, ferns, hazelnuts, pine nuts and other mountain specialties. After drying, salting and compression, the quality products are convenient for storage and have been sold overseas. They are touted as “Northern Delicacies in China.”
