Heilongjiang promotes public fitness

A celebration event marking the “Nationwide Fitness Day” took place in Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Aug 8.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the “Nationwide Fitness Day” in China, an effort to encourage the public to do more exercise and improve physical and mental health.
Various fitness items were demonstrated during the celebration event, including performances of skateboarding, roller skating, radio calisthenics and traditional taichi.
The event features a torch relay ceremony, which was carried out by 40 torch bearers who once served the 2008 Olympic Games.
Additionally, the Heilongjiang Youth Speed Roller Skating Championship was held in Harbin Qingnian Square on the same day. A total of 319 participants from 23 teams in Heilongjiang competed during the competition.
The celebration event was sponsored by Heilongjiang Provincial Government.

Harbin Red Cross organized a medical and health volunteer team to provide free medical services for residents in Nangang district.
The High People’s Court of Heilongjiang province officially launched Thunderbolt Action on the afternoon of May 31.
About 10 government departments in Daoli district, Harbin, Heilongjiang province, carried out joint enforcement June 1 to remove more than 20 illegal constructions with a total area of over 2000 square meters to advance an expropriation project.
Harbin has seen a dramatic reduction in traffic congestion, according to statistics released by Amap, a Chinese navigation service provider.
