Sun Island prepares for annual snow sculpture expo

The preparatory work for the 31st Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Expo started on Nov 28, 10 days later than last year due to weather conditions, according to information from the management committee of the exp.
Snow machines have been running on Sun Island all night since Nov 28 making snow. As of Dec 6, around 10,000 cubic meters of snow has been made. Small sized snow sculptures will soon start being formed.
Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Expo is the origin of China’s snow sculpture art. Every year, snow sculptures integrating the art of snow carving and colorful lights are on display.
The expo highlights include a four-day sculpture competition, attracting famous sculptors from home and abroad to demonstrate their skills. It has become a key event to promote ice and snow tourism.
