Harbin Summer Music Festival concludes

The 34th Harbin Summer Music Festival concluded at the city’s “Music City” in Heilongjiang province, on Aug 20.
A closing ceremony was held to mark the end of the 15-day festival on Aug 20, with performances of songs such as Sun Island, Summer of Harbin, and Our New Time given a rapturous reception by the audience.
Around 600 performers from all walks of life participated in the ceremony.
Initiated in 1961, the Summer of Harbin Music Festival has become one of the most prestigious city music events in China.
The festival, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Harbin municipal government, helped promote and integrate traditional cultural performances with popular entertainment.
The festival also further promoted the city as a tourist destination, by tapping the potential of the city’s history, culture, beautiful scenery and pleasant summer climate.
This year’s event was guided by the government with participants coming from all walks of life. The concert included a variety of performances, including two performances at the opening and closing ceremony, the 13th National Vocal Music Performance, the 2018 Schoenfeld International String Competition and an international accordion art week.
Meanwhile, the festival also featured other performances designed to appeal to mass audiences. In total, there were 50 venues organized across Harbin to present theatrical performances to local residents and tourists, attracting performers from both home and abroad.
In addition, during the festival, renowned domestic singers such as Yan Weiwen, Liu Weiwei, Sun Nan and Cai Guoqing took on the role of music mentors to guide professional vocalists and amateur singers.
