French composer Bizet’s Carmen, performed by the Shanghai Opera House, was put on stage at the Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Center on the evening of August 8 for the first time.
As an exciting part of the music program of the “Charming Harbin Summer” activities, this version of Carmen, adapted by the Shanghai Opera House in 2012, cuts some French monologues and scenes of children playing, making the plot more intense and powerful. Qu Lei, deputy-mayor of Harbin city, watched the show.
On the evening of August 9, Wei Song, a renowned Chinese tenor and the head of the Shanghai Opera House, stared in a concert held at the Global Center of the Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Center. He is also going to sing On the Sun Island to express his love of Harbin.
