Harbin invests $4.8b in health industry

The city of Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, planned an investment of 30 billion yuan ($4.8b) in the bio-pharmaceutical industry for the following three years as Harbin was approved by the central government to be a pilot city developing the bio-pharmaceutical industrial cluster this October.
The investment will focus on developing a manufacturing center for innovative products, business centers and R&D institutions in the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
According to statistics, the bio-pharmaceutical industry in Harbin has developed rapidly with sales revenue reaching 31.8 billion yuan in 2013, accounting for 78.3 percent of the total revenue of Heilongjiang province.
