Harbin mourns dead firefighters from warehouse blaze

People in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, paid tribute to five firefighters killed while trying to put out a warehouse blaze in the city on Jan 2.
The fire, which broke out at a market warehouse at the Beifangnanxun ceramics market at 1:14 pm and caused the building to collapse at around 10:00 pm, took the lives of five young firefighters: Zhao Zilong, Fu Renchao, Zhang Xiaokai, Hou Baosen and Yang Xiaowei. The blaze injured 13 other firefighters and a security guard.
The deceased firemen were buried by debris while trying to put out the fire, which burnt down the third floor of the market warehouse at 9:37 pm on Jan 2, burying firemen on the second floor.
The warehouse was part of an 11-story residential building. The first to third floors were used as warehouses, and the other eight floors were residential. Residents of the building and nearby were safely evacuated.
