Harbin builds world’s largest cellulosic ethanol plant

With an investment of 1.4 billion yuan ($228.86 million), the largest plant utilizing straw for cellulosic ethanol biofuels in the world is under construction in Hulan district, Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, according to Harbin Daily on Oct 27.
The plant is a major project of a cooperation program known as the “Demonstration Zone of Burgeoning Agricultural Industrial Clusters” of Heilongjiang Jianye Fuel Co and Danish biotechnology company Novozymes. The successful operation of the plant can create 20,000 job opportunities with an annual output of 8 billion yuan.
