Golden Week numbers in Harbin

Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, embraced millions of visitors during the seven-day National Day holiday that ended on Oct 7.

Traffic
Freeway: 2.3 million
As the freeway during the National Day holiday is free of charge, 2.3 million light vehicles traveled on the freeway, three times the normal number.

Coach: 910,000
Around 910,000 people traveled by coach. The Harbin Coach Station saw 33,377 departures, out of which there were an additional 604 departures due to heavy passenger traffic during the holiday, 1.17 percent higher than the same period last year.

Railway: 361,000
Harbin Railway transported 361,000 passengers a day during Golden Week. The peak was reached on Oct 1 with 469,000 travelers, an increase of 16,000 people per day in comparison with last year’s number.

Airport: 253,000
Harbin Taiping International Airport recorded 1,985 arrivals and departures, carrying a total of 253,000 passengers throughout the holiday, up 18.1 percent over last year’s Golden Week data.

Metro: 150,000
Metro Line 1 shared steady passenger flow with an average of 150,000 people a day during the holiday. The museum station was the busiest among the 18 stations as passengers exceeded 40,000 at its peak.

Tourism
In accordance with passenger flow in transportation, the city saw a surge in the number of visitors in tourist attractions.

Accommodation: 336,300
During the weeklong holiday, Harbin accommodated an aggregate of 336,300 overnight-stay tourists, accounting for 1 billion yuan ($163 million) in revenue.

Sun Island: 276,700
According to the administrator’s office of Sun Island, the scenic spot received 276,700 tourists from Oct 1 to 7.

Shangzhi Park: 200,000
The 11th Heilongjiang Chrysanthemum Exhibition in Shangzhi Park attracted about 200,000 visitors from near and far during the holiday.

Library: 50,000
Different from the majority who chose to travel, some residents preferred to pass the time in libraries. Official data showed provincial and municipal libraries in the city received nearly 50,000 readers during Golden Week, double the amount of other holidays.

Satisfaction
Thanks to preparations made in transportation, public service and tourism, the city ensured a relatively satisfying trip for people traveling in Harbin during Golden Week.

Complaints: 309
A total of 309 consumer complaints were received and attended to. The hot issues of complaints during the holiday were mainly about accommodation, catering service, public transport and consumption of electronic devices.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
