Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, will open 10 high-speed trains for eastern tourists as the snowy season approaches, according to the Harbin tourism administration on Dec 2.

The first tourism train will depart from Hangzhou in East China’s Zhejiang province on Dec 24. Stopping in major cities like Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, the 800-seat train aims to bring eastern tourists to tourism destinations in Northeast China, including Shenyang, Shangbai Mountain and Harbin.

To ensure tourists a comfortable journey, the trains have been equipped with a heating system and medical staff. Various performances have also been designed to entertain travelers on the train.

Harbin, heralded as an "Ice City" for its well-known winter tourism and recreation, announced the opening of tourist trains after its travel agencies embraced a rousing success in promoting trips via high-speed railway in southern cities including Nanjing, Suzhou and Hangzhou.
