A garden city in Harbin

Songbei district of Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, has invested more than 10 million yuan ($1.62 million) to improve the living environment of residents, according to New Evening News on Dec 6.
In response to complaints that the darkness in Songbei deters people from outdoor activities at night, the urban management bureau of Songbei upgraded its streetlights and finished lighting projects for landmark buildings.
New sidewalks, parking lots and green belts have also been built to create a garden environment for people to enjoy a comfortable life in Songbei.
