The city of Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, was listed as one of the 30 most developed cities for tourism in the Chinese mainland by Forbes China on Dec 15.

Standing out from 100 candidate cities with the most tourism income in the Chinese mainland, Harbin was ranked 24th on the list in terms of comprehensive standards.

The annual visits of domestic tourists and domestic tourism income, as well as the number of hotels and scenic spots in the city, led Harbin to the top of the list. The ranking also indicates that Harbin has great potential to increase its annual number of inbound tourists and international tourism receipts.

From January 5 to February 25, 2015, the 31st Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival will take the chance to attract overseas tourists coming to Harbin for winter travel.

With Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing in the top three, respectively, the list shows that the top tourism cities of the Chinese mainland are located where the economy is developed and where tourism is the traditional industry, such as Guilin and Huangshan.
