A sport park named after former Chinese gymnastics champion Li Ning, will be built in Songbei district of Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.

Invested by Viva China Holdings with 2 billion yuan ($160 million), the park is expected to be the first large-scale sport venue in Harbin.

The park will be open to residents for free one or two month every year, with functional areas for sports, entertainment, training, and health.

The facilities of the sport park include a swimming pool, a badminton hall, an art gymnasium and multi-functional hall for basketball training and sport games, while the cultural and entertainment area will stage exhibitions and a cinema for children.

In addition, the park will construct an ecological sport park with an aquatic paradise, a beach volleyball arena, an ice hockey rink and a pathway for cycling, jogging and walking.

It will also host sports meetings and games for corporations as well as bring in training institutions and set up sports clubs.
