Technological innovation pushes Harbin’s growth

Implementation of the innovation-driven growth strategy has accelerated the development of Harbin city in China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province in the past year.

Technology helps fight against the pandemic

In 2020, Harbin invested 8.1 million yuan in supporting the implementation of 18 virus prevention and control projects, highlighting the development of high-efficiency air disinfection equipment for viruses and bacteria.

A total of 11,000 sets of facial recognition equipment were installed in the city’s nine main urban areas.

Meanwhile, the doors of 8,982 residential buildings were repaired and replaced, and 7,269 facial recognition terminal devices were installed.

High-tech enterprises hit a new record

In 2020, the number of high-tech enterprises in Harbin reached 1,180, a year-on-year increase of 45 percent. The city's 2,185 enterprises have passed the national scientific and technological certification for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Last year, Harbin implemented 565 “Young Eagle” projects and provided job opportunities for around 6,000 people.

Business incubation accelerates development

In 2020, Harbin accelerated the construction of business incubation carriers and improved the innovation and entrepreneurship incubation system.

Throughout the year, 30 municipal-level registered technology business incubators were added.

The Harbin government also distributed 12.15 million yuan as subsidies for the construction and expansion of business incubation carriers.

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
