In the first quarter of this year, foreign trade between Russia and Harbin, the capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, reached 2.73 billion yuan ($392.81 million), seeing a year-on-year increase of 155 percent.
 
Exports accounted for 830 million yuan, up 115.9 percent from the corresponding period last year, while imports came in at 1.9 billion yuan, surging 177.4 percent.
 
To boost bilateral trade, Harbin has comprehensively advanced the construction of pilot projects to support the innovative development of the service trade. It has also made efforts to ramp up cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas, national foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases, and national processing trade industrial parks.
 
Harbin has also optimized the construction of an international logistics hub system involving aviation, railways, and highways, and sped up the construction of customs-designated supervision sites for imported edible aquatic animals and customs quarantine centers.
