Harbin, the capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, has been named "China's Most Competitive Convention City for 2023". It joins Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Jinan, Shenyang, and Changchun in the top tier of sub-provincial convention industry development.
 
The announcement was made on Nov 1 at the 2024 China Convention City Industry Cooperation Conference, hosted by the China Convention, Exhibition, and Event Society in Chengdu.
 
The event unveiled the "2023 China Urban Convention Industry Competitiveness Index Report" and the list of "China's Most Competitive Convention Cities for 2023".
 
The report is noted for its comprehensive and multi-dimensional approach, objectivity, and scientific methodology.
 
It evaluates cities based on 65 indicators across several levels of competitiveness: professional industry competitiveness, enterprise competitiveness, infrastructure competitiveness, macro environment competitiveness, and comprehensive service competitiveness.
 
The report highlights cities' strengths and market performance in hosting professional exhibitions, focusing on urban exhibition professional competitiveness.
