The First China (Heilongjiang) International Green Food Industry Expo and the Fourth China Heilongjiang International Rice Festival -- co-sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Heilongjiang Provincial Government -- will be held online on Dec 26-30.

The events are expected to add increased momentum to the economic development of Harbin, capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.

A total of 1,386 enterprises from 27 countries and regions -- and 26 domestic provinces, autonomous regions and various municipalities -- will participate in the online exhibition, exhibiting 2,461 products in 19 categories.

Meanwhile, 2,117 investment promotion projects will be released.

The online exhibition will present the development of the green food and rice industry to participants through a virtual 3D exhibition hall that accommodates both exhibitors and exhibits.

The virtual hall will reportedly adopt VR panoramic technology and integrate virtual robot explanations, to enhance the interactive browsing experience of exhibitors.

The application of new technologies is expected to better promote industrial cooperation and open exchanges on the platform -- as well as further extend Harbin's industrial production chain, upgrade the value chain and integrate its supply chain.

Additionally, it is seen promoting the integration of modern agriculture into the new development pattern of domestic and international trade.

Wang Yingchun, president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Heilongjiang Committee, said that Heilongjiang was a large agricultural province in China.

As such, Wang said it would continue to promote the development of agriculture and the green food industries, by leveraging and utilizing its competitive advantages in terms of its fertile soil, green and organic planting methods and non-genetically modified varieties.
