Brand USA promotes tourism in Harbin

After the US extended the validity of Chinese tourists visas to ten 10 years on Nov 10, Brand US together with 12 American travel organizations started tourism promotions in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, on Nov 25.

"The promotion video of Harbin in Times Square this summer has attracted great attention in New York City. The civilized Harbin tourists also impressed local Americans a lot. Harbin is the first destination of our promotion in China this time," said Zheng Chun, representative of Brand US for the North China market.

Harbin opened a chartered flight to Anchorage of Alaska within six hours last September. Another nine chartered flights has have been added to the US this year. More and more people will fly to the US from Harbin for their foreign trips.

Yu Lanping, executive director of Kanghua International Travel Agency, told the reportersaid that his agency received 300 tourists to America in 2013, while the number has reached 2, 000 till as of November this year.

Tourist routes from American travel agencies such as American International Travel Service Inc, Hawaiian Airlines and All Americas Inc attracted many travel companies in Harbin to seek cooperative programs in the promotion.

Yang Ke, general manager of Harbin Railway International Travel Service Co, said that November used to be a low season for travel to American travels. Thanks to the extended tourist visa, many people called for travelinginquiring about travel to America recently. And tThe company’s tour groups to the US in December have almost filled up by now.

Local travel agencies also promoted well-designed tourist routes in Harbin to foreign companies in an effort to invite American tourists to China during the event.
