China and Russia will strengthen cooperation on industries, investment, financing, technology and tourism, boosting revitalization of the Northeast China Old Industry Base and development of Eastern Siberia and the Far East of Russia.

The consensuses were reached by the two sides at the 6th China-Russia Economic Cooperation High-end Think Tank Forum, which was part of the 6th China-Russia Expo being held in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.

This year’s forum had a theme of “new goal, new opportunity, new platform and leaping development”. It was aimed to improve Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation via serving as a platform for academic exchanges, theoretical discussion and decision-making consultation for the China-Russia Expo.

The experts and scholars at the forum focused on Sino-Russian cooperation on electromechanical, chemical industry, the internet and e-commerce; the development of the Russian Far East and the revitalization cooperation mechanism in Northeast China, the construction of key port groups along the border between China and Russia, and the construction of the “Belt and Road”.

A wide consensus has been reached on local cooperation and exchanges, and many countermeasures and suggestions with important reference values have been proposed.
