Overseas Chinese make cultural visit to Harbin

A winter camp activity to promote Chinese culture among overseas Chinese kicked off in Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Dec 22, according to the organizers.

The activity, which has as its theme “the Chinese, Language and Search Family Root, ” will last 10 days.

During the period, the participants will learn about traditional Chinese culture represented by the language, Chinese calligraphy, painting, the art of tea making, martial arts and folk songs and dances.

They will also pay a visit to Harbin’s historical buildings and natural landscapes, to experience the charms of Harbin as an Ice City and a popular winter tourism destination.

Compared with the similar activities held before, this year’s event has significantly increased number of participants and is a much larger-scaled event.
 
The organizers said it has attracted the participation of around 230 overseas Chinese from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Germany, Canada and Indonesia.

It is being sponsored by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and organized by the Heilongjiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Heilongjiang International University.
