Tourists flying from Harbin to China’s northernmost Mohe city are now enjoying much cheaper prices and better services, according to airline officials.

Starting from October 1 this year, the three airlines operating the Mohe-Harbin route reduced their full-price economy class fare from 2,100 yuan ($297.10) to about 1,500 yuan, slashing the price by 600 yuan.

The move was to reverse the previous anomaly of the price of air tickets from Mohe to Harbin being much higher than that for Mohe to Beijing via Harbin -- the layover stop of the Mohe-Beijing route.

In the two months since the implementation of the new fares, Mohe airport has achieved handled 12,878 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 17.4 percent.

Airline officials said Mohe has a top reputation as a summer resort and an aurora observatory in China.
