Harbin is working on ways to implement China’s “Made in China 2025” plan, according to the city’s information and industry commission, which says it is organizing various departments to come up with a related action plan that merges Harbin’s own approach with the national strategy.
They have established a 16-member advisory board of experts from universities, research institutes, and enterprises that they can consult on policies, priorities, and approaches and Harbin is expected to come up with preferential policies for technology, with priority given to advanced equipment and technology-intensive manufacturing.
They say Harbin will add new vigor to its manufacturing sector through innovations in Internet services and marketing, and will play a major role in combining production resources in enterprises, colleges and research institutes for technological breakthroughs and cooperation and will develop a cloud computing site to share data and information among the participants.
Harbin says it wants to attract leading companies and investment for business opportunities and jobs, after having been named a pilot base for a national micro-to-small business entrepreneurship and innovation push in June and it is expected to build around two dozen national innovation centers for key manufacturing industries by 2025.
The “Made in China 2025” push was announced by China’s cabinet in May with the idea of making China a global manufacturing powerhouse as one of the country’s economic initiatives.
