At the recent Sichuan provincial Agriculture Fair in the city of Chengdu, which took place Nov 19 - 23, some agricultural goods from Harbin, Heilongjiang province, especially rice, enjoyed brick sales, according to the Harbin news portal my399.com reports.
One rice company from Bayan county, to the northeast of Harbin that took part in the fair for the first time sold all of its 1-tons-plus of rice just after the opening, on Nov 19, with a sales representative, Gao Wenfeng, exclaiming, “Many Chengdu people rushed to buy our rice.”
Gao goes on to say that one top nursing home in Chengdu wanted to purchase at least 200 tons of rice, costing about 1-million yuan ($156,700) during the event and a market signed an agreement with Gao’s company as a sales representative.
Gao says the company believed in the Chengdu market, because of 14-million potential customers, and the good response from local people to the Northeast’s green food products reassured these Harbin promoters about their belief in southern China.
The exhibits, sponsored by the Harbin government, contained more than 500 agricultural products, in grains, edible oils, meat, egg, dairy products, vegetables, drinks and snacks, with the most popular items being Harbin’s favorites too, meaning smoked sausage and doubao, a sticky, steamed bun stuffed with sweet bean paste.
