The 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) concluded in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on May 14.

The ICIF is a national-level industrial fair committed to advancing China’s cultural industries as well as promoting trade in cultural products.

During the five-day event, a delegation from Harbin, Heilongjiang province signed 13 deals worth a total of 10.56 billion yuan ($1.65 billion).

The city impressed investors with a presentation showcasing Harbin’s ice and snow scenery, its ties with Shenzhen and Russia, and its integrated development of technology, culture and tourism.

Among the investors was an investment company in Shenzhen that signed an agreement with Harbin’s Songbei District. The deal with the district involves a large-scale arts project which will feature ice and snow performances.

“I am confident the project will be a success and we are committed to bringing Harbin’s culture and scenery to a nationwide audience”, said Zhang Xiaofei, general manager of the company.

Other agreements reached include a deal between Heilongjiang and Guangdong on the promotion of culture industries in Heilongjiang.

Guangdong firms will be expected to build businesses in various sectors including robotics and artificial intelligence.

The deals are part of an effort to implement guidelines issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in March, which encourage southern provinces to help revitalize local economies in Northeast China.
