The main structure of the No 1 coal storage yard at the gigantic Dubai Hassyan 2,400 megawatt Clean Coal Power Plant was capped at 14:00 hrs local time on May 22, 10 days ahead of the schedule, according to information released by Harbin Electronic Corporation.
The coal storage yards of the Hassyan project were designed and constructed by Harbin Electronic International Company, a subsidy of Harbin Electronic Corporation.
A single-storage coal yard is 677 meters long and spans 122m, covering an area of 83,000 square meters, equivalent to the area of 12 standard football fields; and uses 8,100 tons of steel, the total weight of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The coal storage capacity of a single coal yard is 570,000 tons, which can supply at least two of the power plant’s four 600 mW power generators for 45 days of continuous full-load operations.
The first batch of coal will be transported to the yard very soon, said a staff member of the builder.
