A launch ceremony for the new showroom for the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub was held in Harbin New Zone in Harbin -- capital city of China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province -- on March 27, local officials said.

They said it marked significant progress in the construction of the facility which will be a major  international commodities convention, exhibition and trading complex built by the Shanghai-headquartered listed diversified property giant Greenland Group.

Replying on Greenland Group's resources in international trade, retail, warehousing and logistics, the trading hub will provide customs clearance, warehousing, logistics and retail services for upstream brand companies that settle there, according to a company spokesman

The showroom, as the first project of the trading hub, is scheduled to open in mid-May.

Various imported goods from more than 20 countries and regions will be displayed and sold there, providing convenience for Harbin residents to buy high-quality global goods without going abroad.

The other facilities of the trading hub are expected to finish construction and start operations in May, 2021.

The arrival of the significant facility will play an important role in boosting economic development and foreign exchanges in Harbin New Zone, said Wu Tingjun, head of the Northeast Regional Management Headquarters of the Greenland Group.
