The industrial park is being developed by Amer International Group – the Chinese metals giant which produces and distributes non-ferrous metals – which is ranked 91st on the Fortune Global 500 list.
Officials said the Amer New-general Material Industrial Park would cost 15 billion yuan ($2.22 billion) and has a planned area of 817,000 square meters.
They said its construction would include the world's largest single copper-based material production workshop, the world's largest railway wire processing workshop – as well as support facilities.
These will serve the investment, construction, operation, management and other endeavors of the Amer International Group in Northeast Asia.
The industrial park is expected to feature a complete upstream and downstream industrial supply chain in new-generation material technologies involving graphite, graphene, carbon fiber and titanium alloys.
When the industrial park is completed and operating, the annual output value is projected to l hit about 10 billion yuan. Officials said the facility will be home to about 300 enterprises of various types, providing around more than 10,000 jobs.
They added that the project will play an important role in driving local economic development.
Since the start of the year, 53 projects have signed on with the Harbin New Zone, involving total investment of 118.8 billion yuan.
Of these, four projects each have an investment topping 10 billion yuan.
