The 2021 China International Exhibition Development Conference, which was held on June 5 in the Harbin New Zone, presented the latest news on a major development taking place, that is due to become a major landmark in the region.

Around 1,000 industry leaders and 100 enterprises attended the conference, discussing the latest regional and urban development that is being driven by the convention and exhibitions economy, among other things. 

The conference also showcased a business promotion for Northeast Asia Guobo City, which is currently being developed by the Shanghai-headquartered Greenland Group.

The development is located in the core area of Harbin New Zone and its aim is to become a new landmark in Harbin.

One of the top 100 projects in Heilongjiang province, plans are for it to construct the Northeast Asia International Convention and Exhibition Center, the Northeast Asia International Meeting Center, the Northeast Asia Global Commodity Trade Port, as well as star-rated hotels and super high-rise twin towers.

The project will reportedly integrate trade and exhibitions, the headquarters economy, smart technology innovation, business and finance.

It started construction in September 2019 and its site covers 2,580 mu (172 hectares), with total investment of the project estimated to top 50 billion yuan.

Currently, some 2 million square meters have been developed, with investment of 13.5 billion yuan ($2.03 billion) in place.

Of that, the Northeast Asia International Convention and Exhibition Center is scheduled to complete its construction and start operating within the year.

The center is expected to be a world-class convention and exhibition facility that will provide more than 4,000 exhibition stands.
