Harbin's solid industrial foundation drives rapid development

Since the 18th Communist Party of China's National Congress in 2012, Harbin's solid industrial foundation has driven the rapid economic development of the city, which is the capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province.

Statistics from Harbin's development and reform commission show that Harbin has advanced 1,945 key projects, with an investment of 486.69 billion yuan ($73.02 billion) in place from 2012 to 2021.

Among them are 208 industrial projects, each with an investment of more than 1 billion yuan. They have a total of 233.2 billion yuan in place and account for 47.9 percent of Harbin's total investment.

During the same period, Harbin has promoted the development of strategic emerging industries and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, with 1,081 projects being implemented and a total investment of 128.42 billion yuan in place.

Meanwhile, Harbin's "4+4" modern industrial system has improved in unison with the city's economic growth.

Harbin's modern industrial system covers the deep processing of green agricultural products and advanced equipment manufacturing, with modern biomedicine and the tourism sector as its pillar industries. Its rapidly developing sectors are information, new materials, finance and modern logistics.

Industrial projects from Harbin's "4+4" modern industrial system reached 1,048, accounting for 53.0 percent of the total 1,945 projects.

Industries such as advanced equipment, organic food, biomedicine and electronic information have accomplished cluster development layout.

To provide convenience for industrial development, Harbin's municipal government has launched a series of preferential policies involving project approval, the capital guarantee and land supply and use.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
