As Northeast Asia's transportation hub, Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, has been continuously transporting products from all over the country to Russia and other European and American countries.

According to data from Harbin Customs, in the first 10 months of this year, the total import and export value of goods traded in Heilongjiang reached 211.56 billion yuan ($30.18 billion), which exceeded the annual total from 2021, which was 199.5 billion yuan. This represents an increase of 31.1 percent.

The growth rate of imports and exports in the province ranked first in the country. Harbin's growth rate was 21.6 percent higher than the national growth rate over the same period.

Harbin currently has more than 900 cross-border logistics-related companies. Not only that, but Harbin has also successively deployed overseas warehouses in Russia and the United States. The Russian overseas warehouse was rated as a national overseas warehouse in 2021.

Harbin connects the European and American countries through its freight train and cargo flight networks.

The routes of the Harbin-Europe freight trains start from Harbin, pass through Manzhouli in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Baikal, Chita, Yekaterinburg and Moscow in Russia, Brest and Malashevich in Poland, and finally arrive in Germany, Belgium and other core regions in Europe.

For more than six years, the Harbin-Europe freight trains have operated successfully. In addition to automobiles and their accessories, organic food, mechanical equipment, toys, shoes, grain and other products have also traveled to various parts of Europe through this railway channel.

In terms of international cargo flight operations, relying on the advantages of the short air distance with Russia, Harbin opened two new cargo charter flights from Harbin to Moscow in April and June of this year.

In July, the Harbin-Heihe-Yekaterinburg international postal flight route opened and operations continue as predicted.

In November, the new Harbin-Dongning-Ekaterinburg channel for cross-border e-commerce exports to Russia was opened.

According to the Harbin bureau of commerce, as of the end of October, there were 153 successful cargo flights from Harbin to Russia, with a cargo volume of 4,448 metric tons.

From January to September, the cargo trade volume of the Harbin to Russia air routes reached 970 million yuan, becoming a channel that drives the steady growth of foreign trade between Harbin and Russia.

Additionally, Harbin is the city with the shortest air transportation distance between China and Southeast Asia or even North America. This is a unique advantage in the intercontinental air logistics network.

On Aug 22, the first cargo charter flight route between Harbin and Los Angeles was opened for operation. It executes a flight every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with each shift carrying up to 45 tons of goods.

By the end of October, a total of 25 cargo flights have run between Harbin and Los Angeles, with the cargo volume hitting 904 tons.
