Harbin tourism booms during National Day holiday

During the National Day holiday, Harbin, known as the "Ice City," saw a surge in tourism as visitors from across the country flocked to its attractions.

The city welcomed 8.36 million tourist visits during seven days, marking a 13.6 percent increase from the previous year, and generated a total tourism revenue of 5.63 billion yuan, up 17.4 percent.

The Harbin Taiping International Airport reported a passenger throughput of 498,300, a 5.2 percent increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, the railway system transported 2.57 million passengers, reflecting a 23.3 percent rise, while the metro network handled 7.88 million passengers, an 8.39 percent increase.

Bustling scenes were evident across Harbin's major tourist spots. According to data from China's online travel service provider Ctrip.com Group, ticket orders during the holiday period in Harbin increased by 112 percent compared to last year, while inbound travel orders rose by 46 percent.
