Harbin Electric International Company Limited in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Rumah 2 and Nairyah 2 combined cycle projects in Saudi Arabia on Nov 19. This marks a significant breakthrough for the Harbin company in the Saudi market.

The Rumah 2 project is in Riyadh Province, while Nairyah 2 is in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province.

Both projects will employ combined cycle technology, utilizing natural gas as the primary fuel and diesel as a backup. The projects are designed with advanced air cooling systems, ensuring high efficiency and environmental friendliness.

Saudi Arabia aims to achieve approximately 42 GW of new combined cycle power capacity by 2030,  reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting green, low-carbon energy development.

These projects, featuring efficient combined cycle technology and modern grid peak-shaving capabilities, are crucial for meeting Saudi Arabia's growing industrial electricity demand.

They also play a key role in improving the country's power structure, enhancing grid peak-shaving capabilities, and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid. They are among the largest gas-fired combined cycle power plants in Saudi Arabia.

As the EPC contractor for both projects, the Harbin company will collaborate with top global investors to enhance project management, resource mobilization, technological innovation, and brand influence.

This partnership will bolster the company's efforts to deepen its presence in the Middle Eastern market and expand into higher-end global energy markets. The successful signing of these projects signifies the initial success of the company’s strategic plan in this market.
