The main structure of a 120-meter-high giant Ferris wheel in Harbin, capital of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, completed construction on Oct 12.
The Ferris wheel is an important landscape project of the Four Seasons Ice and Snow Project in Harbin Ice and Snow World.
This Ferris wheel, which is equivalent to the height of a 42-story residential building, uses the current industry-standard full-spoke structure.
It is equipped with 48 10-seater cables, among which six are installed with a transparent glass bottom, offering a better view to riders.
Unlike a traditional Ferris wheel, the spokes and outer ring of this Ferris wheel are equipped with a controllable LED point light source system, which can create snowflake shapes and customized Harbin Ice and Snow World text.
In addition, the equipment structure and electrical components of the Ferris wheel are made of cold-resistant materials to ensure normal operation in winter in Harbin, where the temperature can reach minus 40 degrees.
The Ferris wheel is currently undergoing a load-bearing test and having its cockpit, electric drive unit, and snowflake blades installed.
