An intangible cultural heritage exhibition and performance activity was successfully held in Harbin, capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, on June 11.

It was in celebration of China's Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which falls on the second Saturday of June every year.

During the activity, a total of 40 intangible cultural heritage items involving art, medicine and food were shared to promote traditional culture and pass it down to the next generation.

Elsewhere, the Harbin Intangible Cultural Heritage Center and the Changchun Intangible Cultural Heritage Center jointly held an online exchange and interactive activity on the same day to teach people about intangible cultural heritage items.

In recent years, the Harbin Intangible Cultural Heritage Center has been making efforts in the excavation, census, rescue, and preservation of intangible cultural heritage projects.

To date, Harbin has worked to protect a total of 233 intangible cultural heritage items, including six at the national level, 113 at the provincial level and 114 at the municipal level.
