Harbin Customs lays on fast, efficient clearance procedures

A freight train loaded with 123 Volvo S90 cars recently departed Wolitun Railway Station in Daqing city in China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province, bound for the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium, following fast and efficient customs clearance, according to customs officials in Harbin, the provincial capital.
 
They said it was the result of the innovative measures taken by Harbin Customs to help export cargoes achieve fast clearance despite the influence of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
 
Among the newly launched measures is online handling of the majority of customs clearance business. Customs has also introduced fast track channels for importing and exporting epidemic prevention and control supplies – and it has become involved in statistical monitoring of foreign trade.
 
From January to April this year, Harbin Customs assisted Daqing Volvo Automobile Manufacturing Co to import 12,600 metric tons of auto parts, an increase of 28.6 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the company exported 3,403 vehicles, an increase of 22.2 percent year-on-year.
