It was learned from a news conference held by the information office of the Harbin municipal government on May 31 that Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, has formulated a plan to build itself into a child-friendly city.

In May of this year, Harbin was successfully selected as one of the second batch of national child-friendly cities, becoming the first selected city in Heilongjiang province.

The Harbin plan aims to improve the quality of life of children further and expand their activity areas.

It proposes five construction tasks to improve social policies for children, strengthen the supply of public services for children, enhance the protection of children's welfare, optimize the social environment for children's growth, and develop supporting lists of expected results, policy measures, and significant projects.

The child-friendly city construction will be promoted in stages throughout the city.

By 2025, Harbin aims to improve the existing child protection policy legislative and institutional framework, promote children's development, and form a child-oriented social fashion.
 
Also, Harbin will provide children with more equal and accessible essential public services, provide more inclusive and superior welfare protection, and create a more harmonious and friendly family and social environment for children.
