Harbin airport welcomes super travel rush this summer

Harbin in China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, known as the ice city, saw an unprecedented surge in travel this summer with Harbin Taiping International Airport experiencing a super summer travel season.
 
Statistics from the airport shows that from July 1 to Aug 31, Harbin airport recorded a total of 27,800 takeoffs and landings, transporting 4.11 million passengers. This represents a remarkable growth of 7.8 percent and 10.9 percent compared to the same period in 2019, setting new historical records.
 
In July alone, the airport handled 2.03 million passengers, breaking the previous record set in 1979 when the airport was first opened.
 
Furthermore, the airport reached another milestone in August with 2.08 million passengers, surpassing the previous month's record.
 
During the summer travel season, there was a significant increase in summer tourists flying to Harbin from southern cities, which saw nearly a 20 percent growth compared to 2019.
 
Harbin airport handles a large volume of air traffic every day, facilitating the transportation of more than 63,000 passengers through approximately 440 flights.
 
The record-breaking numbers reflect the popularity of Harbin as a sought-after destination for summer vacations. With its pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, it has become a must-visit city for tourists seeking respite from the summer heat.
 

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
