A float parade was held during the seventh China Animation Week in Harbin, a city in Northeast China, on July 14.

Visitors got an opportunity to appreciate a group of cartoon characters in a wonderful cosplay show during the parade.
There were not only foreign cartoon characters, such as Snow White and Astro Boy, but also Pleasant Goat (Xi Yangyang), a very popular Chinese children’s cartoon.

The floats started off at 6:40 pm from the Harbin International Conference Exhibition and Sports Center. After 30 minutes, the floats arrived at the main venue of the carnival, Central Avenue.

The carnival attracted many local organizations and individuals. All the districts of Harbin participated in the show and promoted themselves with various themed floats, bringing fairy tales into reality.

Students from the city’s middle and primary schools also took part in the street parade. A total of 100 children from Nanshi Primary School and teachers from a local kindergarten dressed themselves as princesses in both foreign fairy tales and Chinese history.

Besides cosplay parades, there were also waist drum performances and fashion shows from senior citizens. Many fans of cosplay even painted cartoon characters on their cars, or dressed as their favorite cartoon idols, such as characters from popular shows like Bleach and One Piece.

The carnival, lasting only one and a half hours, did not only draw the attention of adults, but also children. They had great fun in the shiny floats and cosplay shows.
