The 2013 Agriculture & Food Expo Harbin opened at the Harbin International Conference, Exhibition and Sports Center on Sept 5. The delicious food and advanced technology in Hall A attracted many visitors.

As one of the four exhibit halls, Hall A is home to booths from countries and regions such as Germany, South Korea and Taiwan.

In the German booth, chests of beer and whisky and freshly cooked dishes gave visitors a real German experience. Sarah from Vinhill Fine Wine Trading Co said that Germany is not only famous for beer, but also wine. As a member of a top German wine association, Vinhill brings more than 30 types of red wine to the expo. But the exported wine is not cheap. A bottle of Riesling sparkling white wine is priced at 2,000 yuan ($326).

A German cook, who has worked around the world and came to Shanghai five years ago, made his specialty – salmon tartare – on the spot. Eaten with crisp bread, apple pie and German whisky, tasters were totally captivated.

The South Korea exhibition features modern agricultural technology. Spray robots, pest control robots and unmanned aircrafts were also on display. A 1-meter tall spray robot can sprinkle pesticide and nutrient solution on crops automatically. It can also save 30 percent in dosage thanks to accuracy. A 120,000-yuan unmanned aircraft for agricultural use can do remote monitoring over an area of 100 hectares and release pesticides accurately on pest-stricken areas.

Taiwan mainly showcased snacks and traditional food. A seafood exhibitor said their products are made of deep-sea, high-quality fish from Taiwan and  Malaysia.
