On Dec 8, the Quyi on Campus performance was held in the academic hall of Harbin College in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province. Artists presented hearty Quyi programs for students.

Quyi refers to traditional art forms as ballad singing, story telling, comic dialogues, clapper talks and cross talks

The show featured a clapper talk (a form of Chinese narrative singing accompanied by a pair of clappers) performance by several young artists who warmly praised Harbin’s new construction. What’s more, crosstalk (a traditional form of comedic dialogue) and Jingdong Drum (a form of storytelling in the Beijing dialect with drum accompaniment) won sustained applause. Two artists over 60, Sun Qinghua and Zhang Wei, also received hearty applause from students. During the show, performers introduced knowledge about Quyi to students and organized a question and answer session.

The Harbin Literary Federation and Chinese Quyi Association actively organized the Quyi on Campus show in 2013. The activity was composed of two parts, a campus training session and campus show.

The Quyi on Campus teacher training classes were held from August 27 to 29 in Yuhong Primary School. Over 20 teachers from 11 different primary schools and middle schools took part in the training. Afterwards, Harbin chose Yuhong Primary School as a base to set up Quyi hobby classes and weekly training classes.

Major parts of the show feature classic Quyi works and original works celebrating Harbin’s development and change. During the performance, Quyi information was provided and Quyi enthusiasts  got classes that they need
