The Harbin Welding Institute was the second stop for journalists in Harbin on Nov 28. The Harbin Welding Institute (HWI) was founded in 1956 and is subordinated to the China Academy of Machinery Science & Technology under the administration of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

The registered capital of the base is 15.69 million yuan ($2.6 million). Electromechanical industry technique development and service, electromechanical products manufacture and sale, electric autoimmunization, software development and publication are all within the institute’s scope of business. The HWI now has more than 400 employees, including one member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one National Outstanding Contribution Expert, eight winners of the Special Allowance of the State Council, and 110 research fellows and senior engineers.

The investment in the HWI totals 135.85 million yuan ($22.6 million). With a total construction area of 65,340 square meters, the HWI will achieve sales revenue 68 million yuan and total profit of 11.84 million yuan ($1.97 million).
