The Avic HAIG (Avic Harbin Aircraft Industry Group) Airbus Composites Manufacturing Center was the third stop of the journalist tour on Nov 28.
The center was founded on June 8, 2009, mainly for airplane spare parts production and sale, airbus projects research, development, industrialization and mass production.
Located at Songhua Road, Hanan Industry Town, the manufacturing center drew an investment of 2.06 billion yuan ($339 million). It is expected that the investment in 2013 will reach 60 million yuan ($10 million). A 34,000-square-meter factory for airplane composite spare parts production will be built in the first stage. The center can produce 189 airplanes per year once it reaches its design capacity, which will increase income by $150 million and profit and taxes by $20 million total.
The project will not only help Avic HAIG realize an increase in sales, but will also promote local economic growth, provide thousands of jobs and attract some relevant enterprises to settle in Harbin. It also provides a reserve for composite development and large aircraft projects in the Chinese aircraft industry.
