The 17th Harbin International Auto Show is being held in the International Convention and Exhibition Sports Center of Harbin, northeastern China. The exhibition is planned to last from August 4 to 11.

A line of 12 new cars dominates the exhibition, with pure electric cars and hybrid petrol-electric cars among them. They are celebrated for saving energy and protecting the environment.

This show is the province's largest, enveloping 125,000 square meters and introducing 459 companies, including manufacturers and service companies. They originate from a dozen countries, including Germany, Britain, France, and so on.

836 cars are on display, sporting 92 brands amongst them. Whether they be top-notch vehicles or new domestic cars, each have been presented to catch the visitors' eyes.

Environmental technology is a highlight this year, with brands such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, Toyota, and Nissan launching their own environmentally friendly cars. These are now becoming real and tangible ideas marching into the market, not just vague concepts of a sci-fi future.

60,000 yuan ($9,967) is being subsidized for each purchase, to increase the popularity and usage of these energy-saving cars.

The auto show is held and sponsored by the local governments, the Chinese Auto Industry Institution, and the Chinese Auto Projection Institution, amongst other enterprises.
