Harbin International Agricultural Expo opened at the International Convention Center, on Sept 11. More than 1,200 domestic and international exhibitors from nine countries brought their most cutting-edge agricultural technology and products to the four-day expo.

Song Xibin, Mayor of Harbin, officially opened the Expo, with municipal officials Wang Ying, Jiang Ming, Qu Lei, Shi Jiaxing, and Zhao Kun in attendance. Zhang Wanping, Vice Mayor of Harbin hosted the opening ceremony.
　
More than 200 exhibitors from around the world, such as directors from the Global Food Safety Forum and the China Farm Produce Brokers Association, also attended the opening ceremony.

The Expo is hosted by Harbin's Municipal Government and is presented by Koelnmesse (China), Huahong Group, and Harbin Ice City Exhibition Agency.

With a total area of 55,000 square meters, the Expo will last until Sept 14. International exhibitors, exhibitors from Heilongjiang Province, and domestic exhibitors from other provinces each take up one third of the total number of exhibitors.

The expo includes various industries, such as farming, animal husbandry, agricultural machinery, agricultural product packaging, and further food processing, displayed in three pavilions: A, B, and C. Pavilion A is the International Pavilion, with exhibitors from Germany, Italy, the United States, Spain, South Korea, the Netherlands, Thailand, and Taiwan. Some fortune 500 companies, such as BASF and Dow, are exhibitign in Pavilion A.

Exhibitors from 260 enterprises from Heilongjiang Province can be found in Pavilion B, which is separated into six sections, including a grain and oil section, and fruit and vegetables. Around 350 enterprises from more than ten domestic cities outside Heilongjiang Province are exhibiting in Pavilion C.

In addition to the three pavilions, the expo also has an outdoor exhibiting area which reaches 12,000 square meters. More than 70 domestic and international enterprises are exhibiting 310 pieces of agricultural machinery here.

One section of the expo - the International Agricultural Development Forum, with its theme of Smart Agriculture, Food Safety delivers panel discussions under topics such as modern agriculture, ecological agriculture, control and detection technology of food quality and safety.

Apart from the forum, many conferences, such as the investment conference on agricultural products’ economy and trade, will be held during the expo.
