Harbin adds new river port

The city of Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, added Shuangcheng River Port to its port area, according to the city’s transportation bureau on Nov 4.

Previously, the river ports along the Songhua River in Harbin jurisdiction are Harbin River Port, Binxian River Port, Bayan River Port, Mulan River Port, Tonghe River Port, Fangzheng River Port and Yilan River Port.

The Shuangcheng River Port was added to Harbin river ports after the county-level Shuangcheng city was approved by the State Council as a new district of Harbin on May 2 this year.

After Shuangcheng River Port joins, Harbin will have eight river ports with total port shorelines of 62.5km and 263 berths. According to the Harbin River Ports Master Plan, it is expected to have an annual throughput of 13 million tons of cargo and 3 million passengers in 2020, and 17 million tons of cargo and 4.5 million passengers in 2030.

Harbin River Port: Coal, minerals, building materials, containers, heavy and large cargo, timber, oil, break-bulk cargo, public transportation and tourist transportation

Binxian River Port: Minerals, building materials and break-bulk cargo

Bayan River Port: Break-bulk cargo and tourist transportation

Mulan River Port: Minerals, building materials, heavy and large cargo, break-bulk cargo and tourist transportation

Tonghe River Port: Minerals, building materials, break-bulk cargo and tourist transportation

Fangzheng River Port: Coal, minerals, building materials and tourist transportation

Yilan River Port: Coal, heavy and large cargo, and tourist transportation

Shuangcheng River Port: Newly included in Harbin river ports and undergoing planning
